XChange, an architectural image library on the web

is a CAAD-course project at the ETH Zurich for the Chair of Architecture and CAAD, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schmitt. The goal of the project was to create a webbased architectural image database, which is open-sourced and enables the user to find pictures of architectural objects using keywords as well as categories. The high-quality, publication resolution image data can be used free of charge for non-commercial purposes. The extensive database-use was at this time an exceptional feature which allows the user to find pictures of a specific project as well as accumulating imagery on a certain topic, like school buildings constructed of wood. XChange was programmed in PERL using a MiniSQL database.
